The Nation, and the World, Mourns with Orlando

One of the victims was a mother there in support of her son...

One had just graduated from High School....

One was a cultural dancer there as part of the Latin event...

One was a bouncer who died trying to help others escape the gun-fire....

One was a ride attendant at Disney World....

One was....

One was....

And the names go on... and on.... and on....

But in the midst of the terror and murder happening in Orlando early Sunday morning, true heroes came forth. Carrying the wounded clear or helping others escape the blood-shed. A young man, named Joshua McGill, is one of these heroes. Joshua McGill was in attendance at the Orlando nightclub during the horrific shooting at Pulse in Orlando. Hiding behind a car, Joshua rescued and tended a one of the shooting victims. A man stumbled to the car Joshua McGill was hiding behind, mumbling, “Can you help me?” McGill quickly grabbed the man as he said, “I think I got shot."

McGill used both of their shirts to make a tourniquet to tend the man's wounds and attempt to stop the bleeding. Joshua helped get the shooting victim to the nearest officer who then transported McGill and the victim, a man named Rodney, to the ER. Rodney had been shot multiple times with wounds in both of his arms and his back. the victim, Rodney, is reported to be in stable condition.

Words do not exist to express the callous, horrible, and depraved act that tore apart familes, loved ones, and friends....

This was an attack on ALL of us, gay or straight. The bullets didn't discriminate. The hate and bile issueing from some people in this nation makes many of us ashamed that they are Americans. Children are being murdered in schools, people are being murdered in movie theaters, innocent LBGT Americans are being murdered simply for celebrating who they are.

This has GOT to stop.
