Evangelical Trump Supporter Leaves Disabled Bernie Supporter on Side of Road, Blames God for Telling
A South Carolina tow-truck driver who is a self-proclaimed evangelical, and who supports GOP candidate Donald Trump, refused to help a disabled woman stranded on the interstate after he noticed her Bernie Sanders sticker.
Cassy McWade, 25, had called her local mechanic for help after she was involved in a minor car crash on a highway near Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday, May 2nd. But when Ken Shupe, of Shupee Max Towing, arrived to haul her vehicle back to the garage for repairs, he took one look at her Bernie Sanders campaign sticker and left the disabled McWade stranded on the side of the road.
Mr. Shupe, a Trump supporter, claims he had been told by God to leave her, " 'Something came over me, I think the Lord came to me, and he just said, 'Get in the truck and leave,'' Shupe also claimed that he had done business with "socialist-minded" people in the past, and claims he had not been paid.
But for McWade, who was concerned that a bout of Crone's could strike at any moment, the experience was terrifying. " I was in a little bit of a shock, and definitely a little scared," said the 25 year old disabled Bernie supporter. McWade, who suffers from early stage Crohn's disease, severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, said that her disabilities meant she was unable to walk to the nearest exit or even lift her own hood, so she was left waiting on the side of the busy highway.
McWade said she supports Sanders presidential bid and has even volunteered for the Democrat's campaign. Bernie's "not in it for the money, that is probably my favorite thing," she explained.
The evangelical Trump supporter ( who stated his belief in a popular right-wing theory that not everyone taking disability checks is actually disabled...) claimed that even if he had been aware of Cassy McWade's disability, he still would have refused to tow her, although he may have waited with her for another truck to arrive, according to a report from ABC. "I stand by my decision, and I would do it again today if the opportunity presented itself,' Shupe explained that he felt proud that he had " finally drew a line in the sand and stood up for what I believed." The tow-truck driver also adding that Hillary supporters could expect the same sort of treatment. Despite his controversial stand against supporters of the two Democratic candidates for President, Shupe insists he is not prejudiced towards women, the disabled, or jews. "If you would come to South Carolina and go to Waffle House with me, you would see very quickly I'm the farthest thing from a bigot or a racist," Mr. Shupe said to an ABC affiliate.
And so Mr. Ken Shupe, of Shupee Max Towing of Trevlors Rest S. Carolina, wins Weedle Deeds "Weasel of the Week" Award... CONGRATULATIONS Mr. Ken Shupe!!!
